Yilin Xia
My name is Yilin, I have a passion for singing in various languages, including Italian, Latin, Spanish, and Russian. I enjoy reading "Le Petit Prince" in French, watching "My Neighbor Totoro" in Japanese, practicing Korean during Taekwondo, and traveling across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, immersing myself in diverse languages. While teaching Mandarin in Wichita, I’ve become very curious about the differences between first and second language acquisition. With a background in linguistics and experience in developing language learning apps and founding a non-profit organization, I aspire to study linguistics or computational linguistics as an undergraduate and delve deeper in graduate school.
My Story
E-Bridge was established by Yilin Xia, whose cross-cultural academic and personal experiences shaped the organization's mission. Originally from Shanghai, China, and now living in Kansas, Yilin has always been intrigued by the world's diversity and the unique potential of every individual. This curiosity evolved into self-directed research and projects focused on how people of various ages and backgrounds approach language learning. At E-Bridge, Yilin utilizes linguistic tools and data analysis to investigate learning trends and develop effective strategies. She also incorporates insights from artificial intelligence, computer science, and educational psychology to create learning applications that cater to diverse learners. As a lifelong learner of English, Mandarin, French, and other languages, Yilin experiences both the challenges and the transformative impact of language acquisition. This personal journey fueled her vision of fostering connections across languages, cultures, and communities.
